When we turn on or unlock the smartphone or tablet, we access the home screen.
From the home screen, we can select the apps that we want to open. Apps are applications that we can use for specific activities. The apps that we use most frequently are usually located at the bottom of the home screen so that we can access them easily.
On the home screen, we can also find the search box to search for other applications or search the web for what we want (information, videos, games…). At the bottom of the home screen, there is the navigation bar.
With the help of the Navigation Bar controls we can access the other applications we have on the smartphone or tablet, return to the previous screen and return home.
Along the top there is the Status Bar. It tells us important information, about the Wi-Fi Internet Connection, mobile phone signal, battery level, and current time.
To use a mobile device, you need to touch the device screen with your finger. By clicking on the icon of an application (App) you will open it.
You can also press and hold it to unlock special menu options. To move from one screen to another, swipe the screen by dragging it with your finger.
Use both fingers to zoom in or out and resize the graphics on the screen. Squeeze your fingers together to make it look smaller, or spread your fingers apart to make it look bigger.
In order to access the Internet with a mobile device, it must be connected to a wireless network. It can be a Wi-Fi network or a mobile network.
A Wi-Fi network provides a wireless connection to the Internet.
All electronic devices such as a mobile phone, tablet or computer can connect to a Wi-Fi network.
To set up a Wi-Fi network in your home, you must register with an Internet service provider, such as your local telephone or cable company.
Many businesses, such as libraries, cafés, universities, and other public places offer free Wi-Fi.
