Lesson 3 Using E-mail: Creating and Using an E-mail Account

Module 1 Digital Health Literacy (DHL) Chapter 2 Using the Internet Lesson 3 Using E-mail: Creating and Using an E-mail Account

You can follow the following steps to create an e-mail account on your computer ( an example of Gmail)

  1. Open the Google Chrome search.
  2. Type in the Google Toolbar: create your Google account.
  3. Click on the first link that appears or click on the following link:
  4. Enter the required data, which are:
    • First name;
    • Last name;
    • Username: (you can use letters, numbers and periods) and remember to add at the end: gmail.com.
  1. Create a password and write it in the “Password” option (Use 8 or more characters with a mix of letters, numbers & symbols) remember to write down your password in a safe place so you can retrieve it in case you forget it.
  2. Retype the password in the option “Confirm the password” .
  3. Click on the option “Show password” to confirm that you have entered the password correctly.
  4. Finally click on the “Next” option.

CREATE GMAIL ACCOUNT ON COMPUTER

Enter the required data.

CREATE GMAIL ACCOUNT ON MOBILE PHONE

You can follow the following steps to create an email account on mobile phone (an example of Gmail)

  1. Open the Gmail application on your mobile phone and press the “Next” option.
  2. Click on the “Add an email address” option.
  3. Select the Google option.
  4. Select the option “Create a new account”.
  5. Enter your first and last name, date of birth and gender and click “Next”.
  6. Create a username: (you can use letters, numbers and periods) and remember to add at the end: gmail.com.
  7. Create a password and write it in the “Password” option (Use 8 or more characters with a mix of letters, numbers & symbols) remember to write down your password in a safe place so you can retrieve it in case you forget it.
  8. Then agree to the privacy and terms.
  9. Press “Next” on the next two screens that appear and you will see that your Gmail account has been added
  10. Now click on your email account to log in.

Your e-mail account has now been created and every time you click on the Gmail application you will access it directly.

The steps are very similar to the steps for  creating an e-mail account on the computer.

CREATE GMAIL ACCOUNT ON MOBILE PHONE

Select the “Inbox” option to view the emails you have received.
