Viruses are…

  • small agents that can multiply within other organisms such as animals, plants or bacteria. The organism that the virus multiplies in is called the host.
  • called quintessential parasites. It means that a host is essential for them.
  • divided in three categories : those who infect animals, plants or bacteria
  • made of three main parts: genome, capsid, outer lipid envelope

Some scientists support that viruses should not be called organisms as it is not agreed if they are alive or not.

Each virus can spread in a different way.
